Thanks to all the snow and cold weather that has descended upon all of us, my family and I have been stuck in the house for days and days and days.
Okay, honestly, it’s only been 3 days, but still. I’m definitely a homebody, but after a few days of not being able to leave your house, a girl wants to run out and pick up an iced tea somewhere.
So, what does a person do when they’re being held captive in their homes by Mother Nature? Play about 18,584 board games with stir crazy children, scavenge through the pantry to come up with dinner ideas that won’t require you to leave the house, and clean. Lots and lots of cleaning.
While rummaging through the refrigerator, I came across a few leftover oranges and decided to make an amazing orange and cloves room freshener to simmer away on the stove while I cleaned the kitchen. The whole house was filled with the most amazing scents and I never had to light a candle.
Simply remove the peel from a couple of oranges and throw them in a medium saucepan. Throw in some whole cloves, add some water, and set it on the stove to simmer. It will fill your kitchen with the most lovely scents…and if you happen notice anything smelling less than wonderful, this will help get rid of that as well.
Orange and cloves together isn’t just for Christmastime…it’s a perfect combination to use all winter long, so enjoy it all through January and February!
