Scandinavian Christmas Entertaining

Lately, I’ve found myself really drawn to Scandinavian decorating.  I think it’s because it’s simple and clean, but cozy and inviting at the same time.  You oftentimes get a real sense of history from their decorating choices…like everything they’re using is a family heirloom that’s been passed down for generations.  This is especially true during Christmas.  Maybe it’s because their design style lends itself perfectly to holiday decorating, or maybe that’s just the style I’m into at the moment, but when I look over my Pinterest boards, I see that’s the style I’m gravitating towards.  Today, I’m sharing some ideas on how you can bring some Scandinavian Christmas entertaining style into your own home, no matter where you live on the globe!

Couldn’t you see yourself sitting around this table all evening long? I love the cozy look of this table, especially the fur (hopefully faux!) blankets draped over the backs of the chairs for added comfort and warmth.  The meal served family style in the center of the table also lends itself to the casual, but still special feel of this evening.

Bright and cheery for the darkest time of the year, this really lets what light we all do get really shine and brighten our moods.  This gingerbread house would be such an amazing focal point.  Guests of all ages would stand around admiring such an amazing piece, for sure!

This is a perfect example of using what you have on hand to create an amazing centerpiece for your holiday table that feels lovely and authentic.  Nothing too fussy, but extremely festive.

Simple and gorgeous.  The garland hanging over the table is what really makes this image…and wouldn’t be too difficult to recreate yourself with ornaments that you already own.

I love the seating at this table…provided I didn’t have to sit at the head of the table.  The stool looks great, but isn’t necessarily my idea of comfortable.  The black chairs, however, look like a place I could linger for hours!

Even if Scandinavian decorating isn’t your thing, we can all find ways to bring elements of their design into our home for the holidays, adding to the festive feel of the season.
