I know it’s been a while, but today I’m back and sharing some pics I took of one of my favorite kinds of cake, Black Forest Cake. This was a cake that was made a least a thousand times in my family when I was growing up and it’s still one of my favorites to this day. You can make this cake as simple or as complex as you’d like. Chocolate cake from scratch, chocolate cake from a mix…cherry pie filling or fresh cherries in a delicious, boozy sauce, the choice is up to you.
Simply bake your favorite chocolate cake. If you want individual cakes, use a glass to cut circles out of your cake. I then sliced my cake in half lengthwise. Place one piece of your cake on your plate, top with some freshly whipped cream, some cherries, and then repeat. If you can, top the whole thing with chocolate sprinkles.
For some reason, Halloween makes me think of Black Forest Cake, so I styled this post with a little bit of Halloween flare. Sparkly spiders, bear tree branches…that screams Halloween, right?
