It’s Thursday, so it’s time to chat about what’s been catching my eye on Pinterest this week. Obviously, you’re going to see a trend to my pinning this week. Not sure how it came to be, but it absolutely shouldn’t come as a surprise to you!
I’ll start with this first image I shared. This comes from one of my favorite, favorite, favorite blogs. She has a way of working with light that continually astounds me. But, this post is remarkable because it’s for a spin on a Coke cake. We’ve all seen countless pins on Pinterest for Coke cakes, but I promise you, not one of them looks as amazing as this does. It’s remarkable.
I’ll show you some other photos that caught my eye this week and see if you can sense the pattern….
Guessed it? This week, I found myself drawn to dark photography that is incredibly lit. Lighting is the biggest challenge in any sort of photography and in these images, the photographer has made the light do exactly what they wanted. It’s kind of like a superpower if you think about it… One good thing about the colder months to come, I’ve found that the late fall/winter months provide the best light to photograph these types of images. I’m not a scientist, so I can’t explain it, but I know that it’s something I’ve noticed. And maybe that also explains why so many of my favorite food photographers come from Scandinavia???
