Let me tell you a little something about myself…….I’m a QVC watcher.
Mostly, just in the fall and around the holidays, and of course, I NEVER miss Christmas in July, but it’s definitely a channel I enjoy. I mean, seriously, it’s a great way to see products in action before you buy them!
Now, before I get to this crazy delicious recipe that I’m sharing today, let me tell you a little story. You’ve got time for a quick little one, don’t you? A few years ago, my daughter and I were bored and hanging out in the living room on a Sunday afternoon flipping through the TiVo guide looking for something to watch. Up on my screen popped a show called In the Kitchen with David on QVC. I’d never heard about it before, but being a foodie, I thought I’d check it out. I told her I’d just watch for a second and then we could move on to something that we’d both enjoy. As it turns out, we never moved on. The two of us watched and chatted about the entire show. We loved how David would get so excited when he tried a tasty dish and we cracked up when he’d do his “happy dance” when something was over the top delicious. I particularly loved his little segments like Cookbook Corner and when he would share his own recipes. The funny thing about it, though, is that we kept coming back. Every Sunday, my daughter and I would sit down together and watch In the Kitchen with David and spend some time together laughing and having a great time. She doesn’t watch it as often as I do anymore (the life of a busy teenager…) but every time I see the show, it reminds me of when we used to watch it together often, and it’s a great memory.
In the Kitchen with David is really a great show and if you love cooking and baking like I do, I highly suggest you check it out on Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings.

Obviously when I was contacted about doing a project with QVC and In the Kitchen with David, I waited about .00001 seconds before saying YES! Yes, I will make one of your recipes, YES I will review your cookbook! And friends, I’m glad I said yes. Back Around the Table: An In the Kitchen with David Cookbook is lovely. The recipes are simple, delicious, and appropriate for all skill levels of cooks. The recipes are like comfort food, but better somehow. You’ll open this cookbook and feel like you can make all the recipes, not just some of them. The food photography is gorgeous, it’s overall a really good cookbook that I’m sure you’ll enjoy. Just in case my raving review didn’t convince you, how about I share some of the recipes included in this book, like Banana Peanut Butter French Toast, Sunday Pot Roast, Smoked Brisket, Five Cheese Fifteen Minute Mac ‘n Cheese, and Mimi’s Blackberry Cobbler….just to name a few.
Still not convinced? Alright, alright…how about I share with you a recipe that they were kind enough to let me share with my readers. S’mores martini, anyone?? Now, tell me that didn’t convince you that you need to buy this book!

Oh! My! Word! While these decadent drinks may remind you of toasting marshmallows and making s’mores over summer campfires, you can enjoy these grown-up cocktails any time of the year. Yes, Adult Chocolate Milk is just that—chocolate milk with vodka. Ask for it and the marshmallow vodka in wine and spirits stores. Finish a Valentine’s Day or an anniversary dinner by serving these for dessert.
Ingredients
- ¼ cup chocolate syrup
- 2 graham crackers, finely crushed
- 2 marshmallows
- ¼ cup marshmallow vodka
- ¼ cup Adult Chocolate Milk
- ¼ cup heavy cream
Directions
- Put 3 tablespoons of the chocolate syrup on a small plate. Place the crushed graham crackers on another small plate. Dip the rims of two martini glasses in the chocolate syrup, then dip the rims into the graham cracker crumbs. Quickly turn the martini glasses right side up and drizzle the remaining 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup in a spiral design on the insides of the glasses. Put the glasses in the freezer for 1 hour to let the chocolate harden.
- Remove the glasses from the freezer. Heat a small nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Put each marshmallow on the end of a skewer. Place the skewers in the skillet with a flat side of the marshmallows facing down, until the marshmallows turn golden, about 45 seconds. Remove the skewered marshmallows from the pan and, using the tines of a fork, push 1 marshmallow into each martini glass.
- Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice, half of the marshmallow vodka, half of the Adult Chocolate Milk, and half of the cream. Shake well and strain the mixture into one of the glasses. Repeat for the second drink.
